Quietly, while I was focused on summer, our little community crossed the 1,000 member mark....

So, here's to all of us for being a thousand members strong! 📣 🥂🍾

While the quality of our members/community is what really matters, it is nice to grow. I hope you are all enjoying ScapeCrunch and getting something out of being part of our growing community. Always open to hear how we can do better. ❤️

Here’s to you!

I saw there were a couple days where there were a bunch of new members and wondered if @Dennis Wong or someone had dropped another mention or somethong. Or it could be that I tagged the forum in my Youtube videos and my 8 subscribers told all their friends. 🤣

Thanks for all of your efforts @Art. This place is still my last bastion of the "old" internet and I love it.
Isn’t it just. Has the old style community feeling, and a bit of a ‘slower’ vibe than the fast paced social media focus elsewhere.

This is great to hear.

I remember when you approached me and said you were thinking of maybe starting up a site like this. At the time I had no idea of what it would become, and I doubt you did either.

I can say for me it has exceeded my expectations. IMO the quality of the people and the wealth of knowledge here is amazing. We are fortunate to have so many of the best and brightest minds in the hobby be a part of this community.

And one more thing you should be proud of. This board has a naturally polite and kind atmosphere and requires very little supervision and monitoring. That is pretty rare these days!

So thanks for providing such a wonderful place for folks in the hobby to gather and exchange ideas. Keep up the great work and hopefully the community continues to grow over the coming years.

I am so happy to have found this site. I have been trying to get back to the hobby for a little while now and looking online I was probably turned off for some time, not wanting to enter a "fast paced selling competition of fake" that the internet is now made of. Coming from a city with no real aquarium retail outlets beyond goldfish at the local pet shop, I knew it would be a challenge. So nice to see journals again with all the "wish I had" and "flooded my living room" realities to go with the awesome results and amazing aquariums. I love reading the whole thread and actually learning rather than shorts.
Lets start up the LTSR (Long Thread Should Read) culture!

I have a theory on this one. While social media, especially Facebook and Reddit have attracted a lot of people away from forums., It has also reduced the aggression and arguments. Smaller communities self police better, and also foster connection between members, plus the kinds of people who want the dopamine hit from conflict find more arguments on social media.
Add in that it is a very zen hobby that attracts a calmer personality, and you get a perfect storm of a very happy place to visit on the internet!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and for your part in making this a great place.

No, when I spoke to @GreggZ about this idea I had, it was a leap of faith. I’m overjoyed that is continues to grow as a community of wonderful, like-minded people. So, thanks for encouraging me to proceed back then, Gregg. Thank you also for always being willing to help all of those people who look at your work and ask questions. You are always willing to help and share your knowledge.

I do want to publicly also thank @Koan for his big part in getting us to where we are today. Moderator work, like administrator work, is mostly behind the scenes. Managing issues, one-on-one welcomes, subtle encouragement, positivity, etc. most people don’t see the hours spent but it doesn’t mean they are not there and that’s a real commitment.

So, big hug @Koan - so thankful for you!

My day would not be complete if I didn't have a "like" from @GreggZ . 😉

Too lazy to edit this video for my vision, but imagine that instead of running as the subject, it's:

"Why do you post about your tanks? No one cares".
then
"GreggZ always giving your post a like"
