I have a new Mr Aqua 36x12x12 (22 gallon) tank on the way. I will be moving the inhabitants from my 20 long to the new tank in a few weeks. I’m currently running a Tidal 55 but due to space constraints, it’s not going to work with the new tank’s location. There won’t be enough room behind the tank for it. So it’s time for a new filter!

I’m wondering about something like @Naturescapes_Rocco set up using a Netlea prefilter and an inline pump. Good idea? Bad idea?

The tank will be fully planted with mostly crypts, no CO2, maybe some emersed growth. Only inhabitants will be a school of Aspidoras and emerald eye rasboras. And a colony of RCS.

Any suggestions? Current not-really-scaped tank for reference. IMG_9781.webp

I'd definitely recommend the prefilter and pump setup! I've now got it on all my tanks. Add a horizontal reactor and you have an amazing modular system than is easy to clean, move, upgrade, and adjust. I’m a bit biased but unfortunately I don't get paid to endorse these products 😔

What pump would you suggest for this little tank?

Think about a DC pump if dead silent and adjustable flow matters 😁

Most are massive 😯 but the IM Mightyjet Mini and Desktop are on sale 💯💯 check em out quick they always sell out!
