The problem

Cannot get 4/6mm tubing on a CO2 Art regulator bubble counter. The hose slips back off the nipple. I've tried soaking in boiling hot water, slipping the hose over the nipple. It just pops right off after it cools. The hose fits fine on the check valve and inline CO2 diffuser. Those have larger barbed nipples.

I've looked at 5/8mm CO2 tubing used in the beer industry. Would this size be a viable solution?

A close-up reveals an O-ring on the nipple. Is that supposed to be there? Without that O-ring, I think the tubing would have some purchase at the base of the nipple.

Are you missing this piece?

You put it on the tubing before pressing the tubing onto the nipple , then pull it down. It cinches down over the tubing and the o-ring, screws onto the cap threads and makes the seal 👍👍

Do you have the nut that threads on the top of that nipple?

The hose fits through the hole of that nut. My guess is tat the 5/8. Would not fit through that hole.

Yes, I would remove the o ring. The hose then fits over the barb. I would cut the end of the hose that is now stretched out.

Once over the barb, the nut screws down to secure hose better.
