Hi Art , I am from Jaipur India , got into the hobby because by 6 year old wanted Goldfish ( after seeing one on Peppa pig). Killed them within a month absolute inexperience on my part & some really bad advice. Started Research , just got sucked into the hobby. 2.5 years now have 2 tanks that I have built from scratch & am super proud of WhatsApp Image 2026-02-20 at 8.40.39 AM.webp

I grew up in India but now in the US. Had the standard fish tank with guppies and goldfish in India decades ago. It’s amazing how the hobby has grown in India, been learning about it from the YouTube channel weekend aquarist. ADA seems to be really pushing it in Bengaluru as well.

Do you have shops in Jaipur or do you source things online?

Great looking tank! You should consider starting a journal so that we can learn from it.

Did u ?? Which part of India ? , yes ADA has a nice gallery in B'luru. I've been there once. buying options are still quite limited , eg this tank has an overflow & for the life of me I could not source one here in India & had to import from Synergy reefs in USA.
LFS here are v v basic just a few common Fishes nothing really fancy. if one gets lucky then maybe they might have some Ludwigia but that is rare
even for the CO2 reactor talked to almost everyone I could connect with & came up empty handed , so had to build one myself.
Plants on the other hnd are very easily available form a coupe of vendors & some farms , huge selection & generally v v healthy ones

Great! Grew up in madurai which is a small town in Tamil nadu.
That's some real commitment to the hobby! :) That's how i remember all the LFS being.
Interesting about the plants and how they are easily available, we started getting SreePadma TC here in the US but looks like they are big in India. Lot of nice species out there.
Definitely start a journal if you have time, I would be very interested to learn more about your build.
The Syngonathus (belem I think) is looking great!
