The latest version of the iOS v2 app has broken the bluetooth connection for me... It initially connects but doesn't see the current settings, then after making one change it disconnects and will not reconnect unless I force close the app, after which the same thing happens again.

I also tried the iOS v1 app, and the Android apk posted earlier in this thread, but both cannot find the light at all to connect to.

I have the AT5 560S V3.

Anyone else? Any suggestions?
the V2 app broke the bluetooth connection for my version 2 light. the V1 app still works but its a pain in the ass. Really worried i'm going to end up with a $350 brick the way things are going with Netlea.
 
I don't know if this will help, but I use the mini programs on WeChat to control my lights(AT5s V2) and they work fine.

Download Wechat and make an account, in the Chat tab, pull down enough so the drop down section from the top appears.

Search "Netlea" and you should see this:

Click on it and it should bring you to a similar page to the apps to do connections.

I'd be happy to help with this if anyone struggles.
 
@bravetang8 might be able to chime in? I recently got him two AT545 V3s and he seems to have no issue connecting and setting them up.
Maybe it's just the iOS version? I just followed the QR link on the instructions which led to the v2 version for android. I followed the aqua colorado instructions from and I don't remember having any issues.

At first I tried to make an account for the wifi functionality but that didn't work. I ended up using the bluetooth just made sure to be close enough to have line of sight and pulled the plug if there were timeouts. It sounds KuhliKevin got this far so it might be something else.

I’ve owned the AT5s v3 for about 6 months and have never been able to actually create an account for WiFi use lol every once in a while (like right now) the app just refuses to connect to the light and I have to delete the light, the app, unplug and start again if I want to make any changes to the ramp/power schedule. I’m on IOS also but really it doesn’t matter, It’s super annoying. I love the actual light and color rendition but honestly they seem to put nothing into improving the user experience in the software side of things, and that makes me super hesitant to purchase another one…I was convinced I would be all Netlea for future projects but I’m now honestly thinking I’ll go with chihiros or maybe try weekaqua instead for my current 60U scape I’m planning.
I would love to have all my tanks on one app just for simplicity but here we are lol

Have you been connecting use Bluetooth and is that what fails every once in a while? I've never had Bluetooth fail to connect and I've been using the control on Wechat. From what I've heard, that might give you better control over the app they have. Worth giving it a try if you haven't yet.

If you can tell me what version of app you were using and what prompts when you try to create an account for WiFi, I will try to troubleshoot with you.

And yes the Bluetooth fails to connect randomly and I basically have to reboot and reinstall the light and app. App version is 2.8.4. I haven’t tried WeChat since I was told this was the latest app that works with the v3.

Just going in there now my light turned off early lmao the app is definitely the downfall of these lights. I always know when it’s going to bug out because the voice control stops responding when it hears the TV lol

So this is what I got. You need a Chinese number to actually register for a Wifi account, so for now we won't be able to do that and bluetooth is the only option available.

There is a new app available in the app store, search netlea and look for this:

Yeah I kind of figured it was something like that so I don’t even try anymore lol and in my App Store there are 2 versions and I have the v2 latest one that’s in English, The version you screenshot is in Chinese only (I’ve tried that one previously) either way I appreciate it!

I'm using the app in english, for the most part, you might have to adjust your setting somewhere.

I’ll look again, last time I looked at it there was no option to change the language that I saw

Edited to add to anyone else that may come across this that it may help, that version of the app does indeed have English once you actually add your light and connect through Bluetooth. There is no setting for language etc.

My AT5s v2 is malfunctioning a little at right about the 1yr mark. I've been using it at full output(50w) most of time and last weekend, one row of the bulb will not change the spectrum regardless what I adjust the light to, and remain yellow. I'm unsure what is causing the issue(could've been water damage since I do splash a little water onto the light when I refill with the hose) and I've followed instruction to reset it and it's not fixed.

I've noticed that it returns normal if I put it in manual and lower the output to about half. So I plan to swap the light between this tank and the smaller tank, since they are the same and the smaller tank only need it at about half the output.

Oh man that’s not good! Maybe trying to reach out to Netlea support or where you purchased the light?
Netlea's warranty is 1 year and if it's water damage it's not covered. Also requires shipping back to China which can be a lot and time consuming. I'd just keep using it until it's not functional and get a new one! Repairing cost(if replacing the bulbs) will be about half a light anyways.
 
I'm curious how these compared to freshwater blade. The price point seems high for a 20 inch (long light); i'm sure the raw par is better than the blade which is around 1.3 to 1.5 times stronger than the plant 3.0 (which is under powered). I have a 72 incher on my discus tank and run it about 20%.

My reading is the netlea does not support ramp up/ramp down for morning/night but perhaps the blurb i read was in error. The most expensive light i own are the ghl 700x which i call a pile of crap and woudl recommend everyone avoid. The actual light spectrum and power is fantastic but everything about them sucks rotten egg. Yea right pull the plug to do a firmware update - grab that 20 foot usb cable to do a firmware update. Swap power supplies to reboot after a power outage. Hell in 2000 my pc mb had better management than those pile of crap but the spectrum is nice definitely nicer than the blade or plant 3.0 ;)
