Interested in getting a Red Tail Shark.

Online guides are all over the place on recommended GH, KH and PH.

Some guides call for 10-15 DKH . Some say theydo best with soft acidic water like their home waters. Some just specify 5-15 degrees hardness but doesn't specify GH or KH. Some sites reference 6.2 to 7.5 PH…

I suspect you would be hard pressed to see a PH of 6.2 in a tank with 10-15 DKH…

Looking to house this in basement tank with Tiger Barbs and also maintaining lots of plants…

Will tiger barbs and a red tail uproot or eat plants on me?

I have a glo-fish Rainbow Shark in my 125 gallon at 8 dgH and 3 dkH , at 75 F. I believe they’re a little less feisty than Red Tail Sharks, but probably fairly similar in needs. It has lived in those same parameters for several years. It skims the plants for algae, but I’ve never seen it do any damage or uprooting.
