We have the ability to create what are called "social groups". These groups can be set up by members and they link members together with their own forum section, calendar and even media gallery. The idea is to make connecting with people in a particular group easier.

I can see that it would be cool to be able to easily interact with people from my state or city. May facilitate meetups or group buys, etc. Similarly, if I was part of a local planted aquarium club, other members from that club could connect here via this social group feature. I can see ways that members in the social group can really make it their own within the broader ScapeCrunch community. It's not about exclusion but about facilitating IRL connections.

However, before turning this feature on, I'd like to know if the broader community thinks it would be meaningful. I'm a firm believer in only adding a feature if the community wants it.

So, I would be grateful if you can vote your thoughts. No wrong answer here just honest opinion. Welcome your input as well in the comments.

Thanks!

Thanks to the people who voted. We ended up in the "not wanted" category so I will not turn on the feature.

As always, open to suggestions on improvements.

Best,

Art

I apologize for missing this as I was very occupied with work, but I would have voted yes. I definitely think connecting on a local scale can have a lot of benefits and be fun in general.

I have seen a few folks here who are in my area, and I think strengthening that connection through a small group setting here would be a great idea!!
