The helena seems to be doing better than the platinum:

On better news my nurii is really nice as is

Anyway other than buying a can of paint how can i get my platinum anubia platinum ?

Plants are looking good. Well done.

Regarding the platinum anubias, give it time and more light. Hopefully, you will see new growth with the white pattern.

I would have said more light, as well , but I have some pinto anubias that are positioned high up in the tank and have been very nicely coloured for the past year or so, but now the new growth is coming in greener and greener, so I have no idea what’s up. Nothing has changed in the tank as far as lighting, ferts, co2, other than lot’s of growth filling in.
Could there be some other deficiency besides light that would affect these variegated varieties?

This is after trimming off a lot of pure green leaves, but you can still see the minimal variegation on the upper foliage, compared to the older leaves.

So two things - first I misnamed the plant it is an AFP platinum bucephalandra not an anubia. Second - and i thought this was obvious - it is growing emersed. Still it would be nice if it was a bit more platinum :(

From what I can see from the picture, the leaves it came with were Platinum yes?

I would reach out to APF and ask them why all the new growth on this plant does not match the growth that it had when you got it. Maybe their tissue culture requires something specific? If not you can ask for a credit or a new plant 👍👍

I think there is zero chance a company will 'refund' or 'replace' a plant a year later.

What you are seeing is called “reversion”. A plant that is showing a mutation can, at any time, start to revert back to the normal version without the mutation. This can happen normally or as a result of a change in the environment. Many people recommend more light but that isn’t always a solution. Some others recommend less light to lower the need for chlorophyll.

You can try to trim the new growth that isn’t showing the mutation. You can also cut the rhizome nearest the mutated leaves to separate it from the rest. Hopefully, new mutated leaves will grow from that separated portion.

In the end, it’s always a gamble with these mutated versions of plants.

I think it is actually a very nice plant without the platinum HOWEVER i am curious what caused the mutation in the first place to get the platinum look.

I'd try it submersed but every rhizome plant i buy from APF rots within a week. I once just put them in a pail of tap water and they rotted in under 7 days so i only buy them when i want to grow them emersed. That is of course another issue why their rhizom plants rot but i'm not even quite sure how to investigate that issue though there might be some relationship between that and how they are growing them.

You may want to research on variegated plant leaves and changing back to regular form. I don’t know how they get them variegated in the first place but it’s common for them to revert.

I think it is perfectly acceptable to reach out to APF and ask how they are growing theirs and if they have also seen some reversion. Won’t hurt.
