Education, observation, communication and resignation.
  • You need to educate yourself on what aquatic plants need to grow and how to provide it.
  • You need to add your observations to your education to make informed decisions.
  • It is hard to learn only from reading- you must communicate with fellow gardeners to ask questions and learn from.
  • You must resign yourself to the time it takes for things to reflect a change, that algae happens and it’s OK, and there are no one size fits all methods.
Thankfully, we help you with all four things here at ScapeCrunch.

What other wisdom is out there from the more experienced members?

  • Behind every successful tank there stands a tolerant spouse
This is so true in my case. She fought it for many years but ultimately gave in and now is actually giving me design suggestions.

I’m fortunate in this regard. She won’t put her hands in the tank but my wife will do everything else for me on water change day.
