I live here in sunny Perth western Australia but born in Devon England.
70 years old now (Time goes fast)
I'm back into the hobby due to a friend showing me his tanks. (lots)
It got me, couldn't stop thinking about getting a tank. Have not had one since I was 24 so long time.
Badgered the wife no end she finally caved lol.
Picked up a 2nd hand tank along with some fish and moved along from there.
Have enjoyed immensely improving things, such as adding new canister filter, doing many hours research.
Currently now have three tanks (see pics)
Two community tanks and one for a beta.
Have thoroughly enjoyed the scaping part the most, I think it's the creative aspects that gets me
and i'm doing my best with planted tanks using co2 but struggling a little.
What's Happening Now ... In the process now of scaping a 6ft x 18in x 18in tank to replace the existing three.
It's been so much fun designing the layout and hardscape items plus the building of the hardscapes.
Have so far completed a couple of rock and driftwood creations and two 3 dimensional
backgrounds (left and right side) using slate, tub lids and expanding foam (See pics)
Have used rule of thirds and managed to reasonably incorporate one fibonacci circle into the 3rds
regards layout and location of key elements.
I was going to use black basalt as the substrate but have now decided it needs more of a contrast and
plus I want to increase the plant aspect so decided i'm going with growing substrate of pond soil, peat
plus sphagnum moss. Capping it with a mix of black basalt and rainbow stone gravel.
Looking forward to being an active member learning and helping when I can.
