Welcome to ScapeCrunch, @Max Power!
We would love to get to know you. Please tell us about yourself. What tank do you have?

Salutations,

Not much to say about me other than I am a retired scientist, now working in an advisory position where I work roughly 1/2 of a normal position.
In my free time, which I have plenty of, I enjoy building split cane rods and fishing with them, being out in nature in general, designing houses, steam engines, medium format photography, cooking and aquascaping.

I have tried my hand at a few different styles of aquariums, ranging from biotope to Dutch style. My absolute favorite style is the classical nature style that Takashi Amano made popular and I very much dislike the modern diorama style.

I have a professional expertise within hydraulic simulations (CFD) and light measurements.

The reason for joining this forum is to hopefully enjoy good discussions and learn something new in the process

Hi there and welcome!

Thanks for the wonderful introduction. Please use our FAQ to find answers to some of the questions most people have.

Like you, my favorite is the Nature Aquarium and I too dislike dioramas. No disrespect as there are beautiful diorama's out there, but IMO thet is a model not a true aquarium. Just me.

Looking forward to having your scientific input on our topics here. Thank you for joining in!

Just a fair warning, I live after the doctrines:

1. a claim made with nothing to back it up have no validity.
2. just because I disagree with someone does not mean that they are wrong.
3. Treat other people as you expect them to treat you.

This is the reason why I am here, the discussions here will hopefully expand my knowledge and people will challenge my views.

Looking forward to the discussions
