Forum Tips Tags and Hashtags!

My kids have taught me the importance of tags and hashtags (which I grew up calling "pound" but that's another story). We have them here at ScapeCrunch and they really do help others find relevant and interesting information. Please use them when you post and go search through them too.

• Tags - when you make a thread, you have the option below the text box to add multiple tags. Just type in the tag and you will get a pop up showing you your tag and similar tags. Select the one you want and that's it. You can add multiple that way. Now your tag will go into the tag cloud that is on our homepage sidebar. You can click on any tag and it will pull up a selection of threads with that tag. Cool, right!?
• Hashtags - these are similar to tags but can be used in any post. All you need to do is type #whatever and it will be clickable. Now anyone clicking that hashtag in the future will see a listing of post where that hashtag is used. Again, making it easy for people to find information they are looking for.

Now, this will only be valuable if we all commit to using it. We need to put the tags/hashtags in so people can find them and we can all benefit.
