We can have a chat feature similar to Facebook Messenger for ScapeCrunch members to use. It’s real time so you can chat with other members when you’re both online.

This would not replace our direct message system so this chat would be more for real time chatting with multiple people although it does allow for private 1 on 1 conversations also.

One thought is that we could host site-wide events such as Happy Hour Thursday Chats or bring in a special guest for a Q&A, etc.

Really looking for honest thoughts here including people saying it’s nice but not needed or likely not to be used because this feature will cost us $30 to implement. Don’t want to squander our precious funds when not needed.

Thank you for posting your opinion! No wrong answers here. We are all in this together.

I've been thinking about this. I think it would be fun. $30? Whatever, I'd spring for that.
However, I'd probably forget or be busy. Not sure how much I'd be able to participate.
Also, so many people here are more experienced hobbyist. There just aren't as many discussions or questions.
What about a Discord? Not to sit and chat on daily because that would take away from the main forum, but we could say, everyone meet at a certain time once a month?

I'm just throwing out ideas.

I think discord can be a good start and cost nothing.

I’ve been thinking about a chat feature for a while now, that some tiny questions I didn’t want to make a post for, I thought a real time chat would be a better option.

I would encourage you to post your tiny questions. The engagement is what makes the forum fun.
I'm with you though, sometimes you feel silly if it doesn't feel substantial.

Seriously at any given time there are 20 to 150 lurkers hanging out reading what we have to say.. Chances are many of them have had your tiny question and feel too stupid to ask it!

Talking about goofy stuff is why we're all here 💯💯😁
