I purchased the GH , KH, NO3 and PO4 test kits. I've always trusted Salifert when I had saltwater and wanted to try the freshwater line.

While the tests are easy to perform and read, in my experience, they need to improve on their quality control. My KH test kit came with a bottle without the drop top so I couldn't "count 4 drops" for the test. My NO3 test kit came without a measuring spoon so I couldn't add "a level spoonful".

Other than that, I think they are quality kits that are easy to use.

Where did you buy them? I would suspect they were previously sold and returned kit’s rather than oversights by the manufacturer.

I purchased them at Aqua Cave. I've emailed them about it.

I've bought lots of Salifert kits and have never seen anything like that. Quality is always the same top notch. I'll be curious as to what the seller says.

And the Salt and Freshwater versions are basically the same thing, just testing for different scales. The Salt measures 0-3 ppm PO4, and the fresh 1-2 ppm PO4. If you read their literature it seems to stem from an idea that PO4 causes algae and should be lower in a freshwater tank. So you can use either one. I use the salt version and use half the amount of water to make the scale wider.

No response from the retailer. Will not be purchasing from them again.

Sorry to hear about your experience...I have the Salifert NO3, PO4, and K test kits (some from the same retailer) and haven't had any issues
