Happy New Year!

Let's start 2024 off right! What are your aquarium-related resolutions for this year?

It can be wishes too!

Let's list them out and we can all support each other to keep them up.

I'll start!

For me, it's all about horticulture (trimming, replanting and vacuuming) this year. I want to keep up with the trimming to avoid some of the algae battles that I self-inflicted on myself.

When I'm busy (or lazy), I end up just doing a heavy trim with a quick water change. This undoubtedly puts the plants into a growth slow down that allows algae (usually cladophora) to thrive. I end up beating it back and cruising until my next lazy moment.

I also want to nail down by fertilization automation. At the moment, it requires a lot of input from me. I need to find the exact dosing sweet spot for my tank and then automated using my DOS and Apex.

How about you?

It’s all about patience for me this year to learn to trim properly. Instead of hack and slash 4-5 groups with the time I have do 1 or 2 properly.

Another one is to get my @Yugang reactor finished and installed. I need to dedicate a full day for tank stuff to get everything done.

Last year I didn't finish my aquarium related targets due to some personal issues, this year I want to achieve them (insha'ALLAH), in summary:
- Keep maintaining my 5 tanks on a daily basis - 1 hour per day max
- Come up with some what beautiful planted tank like the ones other forum members make :)
- Return back breeding guppies
- Finish ScapeCrunch plants database that I already started with like 20+ plants so far
- Go back to my YouTube channel with more aquarium videos

I want to streamline. My real passion in aquariums is in creation. I love the build and the process. I'm gonna break down my "breeding and growing" tanks and just keep my "show" tanks.
Secretly I'm also working on media for a youtube channel. I have learned so much over the years from others who post and I really want to contribute and be a part of the conversation. The hardest part for me is the actual compilation but I'm working on it.

I have purchased a 120x60x50 for competing but cannot begin until the space in my home is ready. We are emptying out a closet area and turning it into a tank nook with a bamboo wood style background and I will hang my light fixture inside the upper inner area of the closet. So my goals are all around getting this project complete and off the ground, but I am remaining patient and using this time to plan the layout exactly how I envision it. A basic river and wood concept.

Mine is to learn better photography. I will practice angled shots and how to focus the shot better. Might need a wide angle lens to assist me. I should probably get glasses too. Glasses should help these old eyes.
