Hi guys,

I was thinking in updating my own journal with this question, but then I remembered about this section so here we are:

My myriophillum mattongrense golden has white tops but when it grows higher, then lower part become darker and starts to attach some kind of algae. What are your suggestions?

pH 7.1 -> co2 on pH 5.5 (it swing from 5.5 and 5.6)

@riioKen mine grows so slowly. Bit faster then the chai but still very painfully slow. What are you dosing exactly (macros, micros and gH)?
Im at 2x ei right now 3x week 15ppm NO3, 2.6ppm PO4, 10.54. I dont dose K2SO4. Then for Ca:Mg its 28.4 ppm Ca and 8.6ppm Mg.

Honestly, the growth of mine isn't that bad, I've bought 1 single stem of around 7-8cm 3 months ago already submersed, now, after 2 months I have around 10 plants of 5-6cm each (but every month or so, I cut the top, discard bottom and replant).
I use burr macro and micro so:
4:1:6 3x week (+ 1 dose after wc) and burr micro.
GH 5 and KH ~1
pH 5.5 - 5.7

Do you have hygrophila chai? Have you converted it from TC or you bought it already submersed? I would like to buy both hygrophila chai and Ludwigia white but both are TC. I'm a bit afraid of TC lol.

I can't share pictures due to size limit.

As I said, the top are always gorgeous (usually mid to top), the the other half, just above the substrate start to attach algae as soon as it starts to get taller, so usually it reset it monthly but is a shame honestly because a bigger "white" bush is a great eye catcher.

I planted it this way ( sparse and in different spots) because I'm trying to find the best placement lol

Maybe try bumping up dose and see how it goes for a few weeks.

Yes I have Hygro chai and Ludwigia white. I tried 2 different companies TC chai and neither lasted. As in didn't seem stable and melted for no reason. I bought some submersed off auction with massive roots and it's been steadily growing.
Don't get me started in the dispicable status of the USA plant retailers. Ludwigia white isn't all that hard of a plant to keep but it was almost impossible to find it. Or no one is willing to part with a few stems. I broke down and bought several fully immersed ones of APF. It took almost 2 months for them to convert over but am now starting to see results. New top leaf crowns about the size of 1 dollar coins. I'm still in the search for Ludwigia meta if anyone has any hint hint hint.

Well idk how much it will cost to you (or even if they will ship to US, very unlikely imo) but aquasabi has Meta TC

I have Pantanal, it grows bright red top but greenish mid to low (no algae problem on it). Do you think it's symptom of lack of light (talking about myriophillum mattongrense golden)?

On the Myrio mine has done the same thing. The lower parts get algae because those leaves arent being completely sustained as healthy growth. The plant is drawing mobile nutrients from the lower parts to fuel the top growth. This leaves the lower parts in a vulnerable state, even if there are no visible signs (its why old growth in general is prone to algae)

So most likely a macro and my first guess would be Po4

@BigWave I'll send you a dozen meta for $25 shipped...but you better hurry Im auctioning it this wknd cause its in the way ;)

And this makes even more sense to my case because I have sparse GSA on glass (and usually it happens to me with lack of po4).

Do you think it would be a good idea to make a bottle with po4 only and push 1ppm more per week? So 4:1:6 -> 4:2:6?

Well it doesnt matter how you add it. I'd probably just dry dose an extra 4-5 after wc until my macro solution ran out then adjust the next mix with more
