Mounting light to canopy

I used these zip tie mounts from Lowes for my Chihiros lights which are mounted to my tank's canopy....there's a hole in the mount for a wood screw to attach it to the canopy

You then make a loop of out zip ties or (what I used) picture wire and slip your light in the loop

The gap between the canopy and the Chihiros lights is 2"

Here's a photo....not the best as there's so much ambient light inside the canopy....the zip-tie mount is attached to the canopy with a wood screw....I re-measured and it's actually a 2.5" gap between the canopy and the Chihiros lights....to raise/lower the light you simply make the loop smaller/bigger....and again I used picture wire for this light thinking it would be more heat tolerant...not that the Chihiros throw out much out heat but still....meantime, that's a Fluval 3.0 behind the Chihiros using the same mounting solution, albeit with zip ties after all...looks like the canopy could use a good dusting, too :)

I'd also highly recommend using screws on top of the 3m adhesive (or getting a kit that comes with them).
I've used these for years with cable management, but they usually (and eventually) fail if they don't also have a screw.

The kit I've been using for a while comes with a baggie of small screws to use to double-mount your whatever. Highly recommend.
