I've seen this little fern growing in the masonry of walls in my local area, including my garden. I think it's Asplenium ruta-muraria, wall-rue. It's native to the UK and Europe but apparently North America too.

Obviously the first thing I thought was would it do okay growing on emersed hardscape, and discovered that Yusuke Homma had beaten me to it.
Apparently, it's in there somewhere.

Anyone had success growing native ferns and mosses emersed in a scape, or terrarium etc, or could recommend any small ferns that might be suitable ?

Sorry, Tim. I never have. Most of my growing has been under water but I'm starting to really appreciate the move to incorporate emersed growth as part of the aquascape. I hope someone with more experience can give you some of their perspective.

I made some readings and experiments regarding growing terrestrial plants in aquarium tanks emersed and most of these plants just do fine, fern specifically should be ok but I didn't try it myself, I believe the most important advice here is to keep the stem in the air out of the water

Please give it a try and let us know how did it go?
