We are officially re-launching the Photo of the Month Contest but re-branded as Media of the Month to allow for the inclusion of video submissions on occasion. Please begin to practice your picture-taking skills as we will be having prizes for the winners along with the usual bragging rights. Perhaps my recent article can assist you in your preparation.

We will be announcing the May 2025 theme on April 15th so watch this thread for the announcement. Submissions will start on May 1 and last 1 week before voting opens.

Thanks to everyone who's comments generated the momentum to re-start this contest.

It's tax day in the USA... To make you forget about the pain of making a tax payment, we are announcing the theme for the May 2025 Media of the Month contest.

The theme is:

Something green in your planted aquarium

We wanted to have a theme about something we all have and that doesn't require having a pristine aquascape. However, this doesn't mean you can't be creative, artistic and overall cool. Push yourself and let's have fun with this!

So, please put some thought into what you would like to photograph in your aquarium that's green. The contest will start on May 1st with submissions being open until May 7th. Then we will start the voting period until the end of May when a winner will be chosen based on most votes.

To make things interesting, our friend @Burr740 has generously agreed to provide the prize for the winning entry - a $25 store credit at BurrAqua.com.

Please thank @Burr740 for his support of our community. He's one of the most knowledgeable in the business and he brings all that knowledge to everything he sells. He deserves our patronage and thanks.

Something green we all have..... algae? lol.

Thanks for restarting this, and how awesome is @Burr740 to donate a gift certificate!

You know that feeling when the race starts and you step on the gas and your car sputters and dies?

That’s what happened with the contest backend software today…

Please standby. Working with the developer on a fix.

Post something green @Art asks…

I can’t help but posting above…

@*Ci* called me out for having a silk plant amongst live plant trimmings I initially placed in my new 75 while it works through its awkward ugly duckling stage as it matures and gets ready for replacement plants…

I had an empty spot and it was cheap and quick and gave the fish cover.. no shame….

But, I am thinking, Maybe, just maybe, it might get me sympathy votes from people hoping to help me replace it sooner….

If nothing else, it gave me a chuckle…

I am still working with the developer on this and debugging the script. Apologies for the extended delay but it is being worked on.

was a funny situation, and I hope you didn’t mind us making a few jokes
Didnt bother me a bit…

It is still serving a purpose for the time being.. keeping it free of algae is easy as can be…. Pull it out and wipe the leaves with a melamine sponge and drop it back in.

Tank is still going through its Ugly Duckling awkward stage…
