Least killifish

is a ph less than 7.0 too low for least kilifish?
I’m getting netlea aquasoil and it lowers the ph a lot. Sometimes down to 5.0 I’ve heard, but I’ll be doing weekly water changes so it shouldn’t lower that much, but still under 7 for sure.
if least killifish wouldn’t do well in that then I just won’t get them.

I kept them at pH 6.8 initially and later raised it to 7.2, and they were fine at both. I can’t say beyond that.

From what I read, keeping kilifish requires a cover on the tank. Is this correct?

Killifish are famous carpet surfers. Many killifish come from environments that frequently dry up and their nature is to hop from puddle to puddle.

That being said, Heterandia formosa is not actually a killifish, it is a livebearer like Guppies are, and a stream / river fish which does jump but is not as dedicated a flyer.

I’ve heard that they don’t need a lid. And I only found one that jumped and I think the co2 may have been too high then.

Mine were in an open bowl and none of them jumped.
