And recently have noticed, Facebook mostly, everyone now believes limiting nitrates makes all red plants redder. I guess it’s quickly becoming the new “more Fe makes plants redder.”

This brings me to a question. Do we as successful planted tank people try to correct this or just keep scrolling? The amount of misinformation, incomplete information is pretty significant and spreads like a virus it seems.

I still do from time to time. But it takes a lot of energy to stick with it as there is so much misinformation posted on a daily basis.

The way I look at it is this. If you take advice from a guy on the internet who's tank you have never seen, you deserve what you get. It's mostly people who have read something on the internet, have no practical experience with it, but can't wait to repeat it.

Better to seek out people who demonstrate success and study their methods. If not you might be taking weight lifting advice from the weakest guy in the gym.

I keep trying, not that my knowledge is great, but burnout is nearing even with just trying to explain basic things. How in the world did you keep going all these years 😅.

It definately did not used to be like this. I blaim it mostly on what we'd call the Covid tax. Ever since people have been couped up the've become stupider but yet more vocal about their so called beliefs. Its getting out of hand but many of us that know better and actually try to help only to get drowned out by the masses. Yet we wonder why this hobby goes no where, compared to say the saltwater side.

I know @Dennis Wong is always careful to point out that this is only on certain plants and it is walking a fine line with the health of plants.

All those that refuse to read the details will find out the hard way and may be pushed out of the hobby organically.

The main reason is that Rotala rotundifolia and its variants are the most common low level "red" aquatic plant. So folks having success with it tends to spread that idea - and statistically, it works for many other beginners because they are also growing that common low level plant. Among the many pieces of disinformation in the market, I guess there are far worst info to combat.
