I had a surprise Snow Storm in my tank!

First Saturday of the month…clean the canister filter, replace the Purigen pack, clean all the hoses and filter tubes, make it attractive….


Freakin. mesh bag holding the Purigen split a seam sometimes between my finishing up and sitting down to enjoy my tank…. Freakin stuff went everywhere!

I cleaned the canister filter again. Tossed the Purigen. Never using that stuff again!

Tore tank down, cleaned it all, new substrate in and plants in a bucket over night…. Will plant them tomorrow…

Fish all safein another tank for the night…

Well, you have a knack for great healthy plant growth I would like to get to…

I started with the veil plants, then put in the cardinal street, then placed the red plants in focal points in thirds, rear and front, then fit in remaining plants….

After finishing this tank, I swapped all the livestock into it, pulled the plants out of my other tank and pulled the tan gravel substrate out, installed UGF and Safe T Sorb in mesh bags and BDBS on top and put the plants back in…

Need to get a few more species each tank…

I’ll be watching the UGF tank. Will be interesting to see how the plants do versus the other tank. Keep us posted.

Well, both tanks have UGF filters now. Previously the other tank did, but this second one did not.

I have not noticed any downside to the UGF. However they are not sole filtration. Both tanks also have canister filters in addition to the UGF.
