My AC died yesterday, bringing the tank's temperature to 85°F. There is not any livestock or plants yet; I just completed week 1 of my Dark Start. The temps have been elevated for about 20 hours at this point. AC has been fixed. I'd imagine it's going to take some time for the tank temps to settle back down.

Have I set myself back or accelerated the cycle with these elevated temps?

I ran a tank at 88f for a few months as an experiment:

Thanks, the article helped alleviate my fears.

I think you are fine. If anything, the heat might have sped up your cycle.

Glad you got your AC fixed. It is awful here. I'm supposed to have scheduled inspection/maintenance on mine today, but I bet they cancel it because there will be so many service call needs. 🔥

Quite possible. I've been testing every day. Ammonia went to 0, Nitrite remained the same, and Nitrate jumped.

It's been awful here in central Ohio, too. Fortunately, my landlord is very responsive. This is a 130+ year old home, and it has its quirks.

Taking any lid or cover off and directing a fan at the surface would cool it down quicker. Evaporative cooling…

Not worried about a quick cool down. The AC has enough to do with bringing the house back down; no need to toss extra humidity into the fray.
