• Welcome to ScapeCrunch!

We are a friendly, online community of people interested in planted aquariums. We support and help each other learn and grow. It is our sincere hope that you will join us and find our tight-knit community valuable and fun!

ScapeCrunch is different than Facebook Groups. Here's how:

    • It is a place where you can make long-term friends in the planted aquarium hobby and have long, multi-day talks on specific subjects.
    • Unlike social media, online communities like ScapeCrunch are much better at curating collective knowledge and in fostering deeper relationships.
    • They lend themselves better at long-form discussions.
    • You can maintain a thread on your personal aquarium with pictures and details. Other members can comment, help and ask questions. You can do the same with their Member Tank threads.

Where Facebook is more like a large city-wide party, ScapeCrunch is more like your neighborhood bar "where everybody knows your name. And they're always glad you came." It's always fun to go to large parties but it's at the local bar that you feel people really know you. The great part is that you can and should go to both!

Please consider joining to become a full fledged member of our growing community of planted aquarium obsessed enthusiasts. Let's grow together!

    Hi!

I'm Art now from Houston but originally from Miami.

I've been involved with the planted aquarium hobby for many years. My passion for planted aquariums pre-dates today's Internet (yes, I'm old). I got my start when I saw The Planted Aquarium book from Dupla on a LFS shelf. The rest is history.

Oh, I also imported Aqua Design Amano into the US, started Aquatic Plant Central, had a little podcast called ScapeFu and several other passion projects involving the planted aquarium hobby. The latest of which is this long-term project, ScapeCrunch.

Welcome and I hope you find ScapeCrunch to be a friendly and dynamic place for you to share you passion for planted aquariums with others who are just as passionate. The goal is to serve you and make this site valuable to YOU. Please lean in, engage and make suggestions on how we can improve.

Looking forward to seeing you on the forum.

    Best,

    Art

Hi, my name is Omid and I've been dabbling in planted tanks since 2016 (kinda). I've received a lot of help, great advice, and awesome plants from many hobbyists over the years and looking forward to give back.

Thanks to Art for setting up this forum.

Hey Omid good to see you here.....hopefully you share your recent nature scape sometime!;)

    Art,

Wow, it’s been a long time huh? Many years ago when Art stepped away from APC I became the admin. That was a fun few years. I dropped away from the hobby and only got back to it about a month ago. I’m back at it with a 180g planted tank and a 46g bow front that is planted in a very low-tech sort of way. Happy to be aboard here.
Hey Bryce! Nice to have you back with the hobby and the forums!

Hey all, nice to be here with many familiar faces. It's great to see some other APCers from the good old days. I was very active back then as houseofcards. I was also one of the first moderators on aquascapingworld when John N launched it. Glad to see others have a livelong obsession with this great hobby.

Thanks Art for setting this up.
