Help! How to calculate compound for dosing?

Of course we all know where find and how to use the rotala butterfly calculator.


But

Id like to know how to create the formula to calculate dosing ppm without using the rotala butterfly calculator.

Yes, but i want to understand how to create the formula not just get the formula.

So lets use CaSO4.2H2O 20 gallons of water and target 20ppm.

So I had to work this out back in the day when APC decided to make a planted aquarium fertilizer calculator called The Fertilator. It wasn't easy.

You also need to decide what you are trying to calculate for. For example, do I want to know how much NO3 to add to my XX gallon aquarium to reach a certain amount or how much will 1 tsp of NO3 increase nitrate in my XXX gallon aquarium.

I'll see if I can find some of the old calculations.

LOL yes I have enough things to worry about..........calculating is something I am glad to leave to others. Much like surgeons, I am grateful they have found a calling....but I could never be one!

Awesome! I was looking for this and forgot about the Wayback Machine. That machine has saved my butt numerous times.
