Hi guys!
Joined this board a while ago but haven't posted anything yet so...
I've been into planted tanks for quite a while ( since 1996). Had to take a break for family life but now the kids are all grown up and I'm getting back in to it.
Right now i have a high tech 40 gal, 30c ADA cube and a 30c UNS cube. Hopefully soon to replace the 40 with a 75.
Not really an aquascaper but love growing plants and giving my fish the best home i can. My fish are a mix of fish I've taken from other people that didn't want them any more.
I built the stand for the 40 myself, basic 40 gal. breeder with a Chihiros 90 Pro, eheim pro4+ 600 filter. Co2 10lb tank,co2art regultar and GLA CO2reactor.

Hi, thanks for posting an introduction! Glad to have you here.

My kids are also grown up so I can relate with having a bit more time now. Although work has kept me pretty busy lately. It's nice to have some time to devote to the tank.

It's obvious you have some handy skills. That stand looks amazing. Very professional.

Looks like your tank is crypt and fern focused. That's a great, lower maintenance setup and they look healthy. Well done. And who doesn't love pearl gouramis!

What are you thinking to do with the 75?

I really wanted to make it a rainbow tank. But, things changed and in the process of setting up 6 new 20 gal long tanks. At least two will be for a pair or trio of apistos. They will be low tech no co2, but will have plenty of plants. Not sure about the other 4 but thinking about a pea puffer tank. Really liking the pseudomugil luminatus i have in my ada tank so maybe a couple for diffrrent types of pseudomugil?
I'm also going to try some different substrates. All my other tasks have uns contra soil, so I'm going to put contra soil in 3 ans ada amazonia in 3 and see which does better.

o_O Six new 20 gallon tanks? WOW! That's awesome. What a way to start 2024.

You're the second person in 24 hours to mention pea puffers to me. Must be popular now?

I can't wait to see the apistos. I've never tried them but they are super colorful and beautiful to see in a well-setup tank.

Lastly, any time one of us can test something, it is very valuable to the community. Comparing Contra Soil with ADA's Amazonia would be good to see. I'm willing to bet that Amazonia will leach more ammonia and suck up more phosphate than the Contra Soil.

Keep us posted. You may want to create a Member Tank Build Thread and get your own build thread badge under you name. This way we can follow you progress.
