Hi all! I'm Mark from Southern California, USA.

I've been in and out of the hobby for over 30yrs and have recently scaled down to one tank.
OFC I'm planning out another but it's still scaled down compared to the past.
Hoping to reconnect with hobbyists I've known for years and hopefully meet many more.

Hey man, good to have you here. Loved your Dutch-style 125g. Any chance you’re doing something Dutchy nowadays?

Hey Mark so glad to see you here. I have always admired your tanks over the years.

I am looking forward to seeing what you are up to and your thoughts on the hobby these days.

These days I'm trying to stay low maintenance. Trimming 300 stems every week was tough to keep up long-term. Only have my 90p running right now. Probably gonna do something kinda dutchy with my 125g when I get it setup again.

Thanks Gregg. Loving your tanks as well. Will be nice to have a forum to go to again. Used to love TPT until I didn't anymore, and absolutely hate FB.

We are very glad to have you here. Please make sure to tell us how we can improve your experience.

I love forums because you can get to know people. If you're my age, you really get "Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And, they're really glad you came!"

Yeah I know exactly what you mean Art. I'll be sure to keep checking in. Feel free to use the High-tech planted tank group on FB to get the word out about the forum. I'm sure a lot of our members would enjoy it here as well.

Mark - I appreciate that. I am very concerned about not overstepping and posting about this forum in Facebook groups in violation of their policies. Please send me a message and let me know if I can post there and any parameters to keep in mind.

I normally keep it very respectful and non-spamming. And, only once every couple of months.

You not only get to know people (which is great!), but you also get to know their tank and their methodologies. To me this is key.

I am active on FB but it's really hard to have a serious nuanced discussion there. The topics are fleeting and get lost so quickly.

With a forum you can get into much more detail. In my opinion it's still the best place for people who really want to improve themselves in the hobby.

Completely agree Gregg. Every hobbyist has their own style and life circumstances that dictate a unique approach. Hell my approach always changes month to month sometimes due to life schedule and circumstances. There is no cookie-cutter one way to do anything.

I also agree that forums are much easier to navigate over time and are much more personal. Maybe I'm just old, but its definitely true for me.
