A picture from my old ScapeFu Podcast days. Can't thank my friend, Jurijs, enough for keeping it on the Internet. Alas, no new episodes have come out in years.

Some of you may remember that there was a previous planted aquarium podcast that had a short run prior to my ScapeFu. They were supportive of my starting ScapeFu but they ran out of steam after a few episodes.

Of course, while ScapeFu was being produced, another podcast came out called The Aquascaping Podcast which was excellent. High production quality and editing. Much more than my podcast ever had. Alas, it too has gone silent.

I know we now have the Aquarium Everything podcast with Jeff Senske going. It's a LONG format show focused on interviews with aquarium influences. It's good and you should listen to and support it.

Are there any other podcasts you listen to that are related to our hobby? Let's share what's out there and support it.

I love listening to podcasts while I drive or am doing things like water changes and maintenance. In fact, many fans of ScapeFu told me that's exactly when they listened to it.

@Art your old school. You may remember Robert Paul Hudson from the Aquabotanic website. He was about the only site that sold aquatic plants and wood oh about the early 2000's. Anyway, somewhere on the interwebs are all his podcasts.

Thanks. I know Robert. I wonder how he’s doing. I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years.

We merged Aquabotanic into APC back in the day. You can still see their posts at APC.

I do remember he did a podcast. Kinda a radio call in style show through radio.Com if I recall.

Any currently active podcasts you listen to?

So I just found George Farmers Podcasts 15 in total. I didn't know he did any. Link: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-george-farmer-podcast-1363801
A tip if you have not gotten into podcasts. Many people say "I'm not into podcasts" but it's because they haven't used them appropriately.

It is an audio show in your pocket. Download it and then turn it on whenever you have life moments - daily commute, pretending to work at work, doing yard work, doing aquarium maintenance, etc. You can start and pause at any time so it's super convenient.

From the creator side, I can tell you creating podcasts can be very challenging which leads to limited runs. People run out of steam and burnout. It just takes A LOT of time and effort to line up guests every week. Imagine the coordination and prep that it takes. More casual style formats are much better and tend to last longer.

I remember Robert. I bought some of my first plants from him, I remember buying Limnophila Aromatica. He also used some of my photos for features he did for Freshwater and Marine Aquarium.

It's on ScapeFu.

Be kind with the feedback. It was the early days of podcasting.

I started listening to your scapefu podcasts a few weeks ago. I find them quite interesting to be honest, and I particularly like how you analyse topics from several different angles, it helps tremendously with "thinking outside of the box", well done!

You definitely have a lot of valuable knowledge surrounding the planted tank hobby Art!

I can now put a voice to your comments and profile pic.
I know how to pronounce your last name correctly now too 😆

Regards,

Well, thanks, Joel. I really appreciate that.

I think of myself more of an information-sharer than an expert of any kind. There are many people that know so much more than me and are much more talented. I view my way of helping the hobby is to connect hobbyists and information together. That's why I started APC way back when, then ScapeFu and now ScapeCrunch.

Yes, name can be difficult. Think "pen" then "nom".

@Art I am a BIG fan of podcasts and am always on the hunt for new ones too. I learnt about you from ScapeFu and am sooo impressed with what did way before podcasts became more popular. A couple hobby-related podcasts that haven't been mentioned are Aquariums Unfiltered, the Aquarium Coop podcast and The Tint.

And thanks for heads up on the Aquarium Everything podcast. I hadn't heard about it and will be adding it to my rotation!
