I'm temporarily in Atlanta and took the opportunity to visit the Georgia Aquarium. If you haven't been, it's a REALLY good aquarium, of course, with the focus on marine life. While that is incredibly cool, I always leave feel bummed that they don't focus on the beauty of freshwater.

I did leave the Georgia Aquarium feeling good because I think the freshwater side is starting to get some respect. Check out the large planted aquarium being kept by the fine folks at this aquarium. I can confirm that it is high tech and had CO2 running.

The amount of cherry shrimp and cardinal tetras in this tank were impressive. Really nice.

Wow that’s very impressive. I have yet to see an aquarium in the US even attempt a planted aquarium. I’ve seen “biotopes” with algae infested pond/bog plants but nothing to this scale and beauty. Kudos to them, I bet most people who put eyes on it think it’s saltwater that pass through.

Visited the Georgia aquarium years ago and gotta say kudos to even having a planted tank, what with that 6.3 million gallon whale shark exhibit as its centerpiece

Up the I-75 in Chattanooga is the Tennessee aquarium which we visited in March....it pays homage to the state's native livestock/habitats and is all freshwater displays (except for some marine displays in a 2nd newer building)....we were impressed and there were a couple of planted tanks to boot, too

Chattanooga is the Tennessee aquarium
I've been to Chattanooga many times as my son used to row and they have a great regatta there. Unfortunately, never made it to the aquarium. I'll have to plan a trip to go see it. Thanks for letting us know.
