Is he not a stem guy?

šŸ˜… I'm picturing one of those 1990s 'word cloud' jobs, off of any given George Farmer video, with this great huge 60-point font

Which brings us to the somber and momentous question: Does anyone else here pronounce it 'Krypto Korn'?

No? Just me? šŸ¤”

Is it a British thing to say it 'Krypto kore-Iney'? Like 'Al-you-Minnie-oom' ?

In my mind it's "korn" rather than "kore-iney".

I had a distinguished horticulture professor who was adamant that since latin is a dead language, any pronunciation of scientific names was valid so long as it was plausible and addresses all the parts of the word. This is not a universal view at all, but I figure he's got more street cred than I ever will, and I'm happy to adopt his generous and inclusive perspective. In that light, I say either pronunciation is correct. šŸ™ŽšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Crypt-o-cor-i-knee

This is how the Europeans have told me to say it for years now.
I don't take pronunciation advice from them. šŸ˜‚

And while I maintain the no-right-way-to-say-it stance, there are some wild and amusing divergences. I nearly fell out of my chair when my friend pronounced liriope "LEAR-ee-ope" instead of "luh-RYE-oh-pee". I thought he was joking around at first!

Doesn’t it always sound smarter when a UK person says something rather than a US person? Or is it me?
