So grateful for scapecrunch, it is already awesome, and appreciate @Art asking for feedback. A few bits:

Scape inspiration area: there are amazing full tank shots sprinkled throughout journals and the various postings, but there isn’t one spot I can go that is just eye candy inspiration for planning my next tank. So an area that is less about back and forth conversation (back and forth is best preserved in journals?). It would be great if we had an eye candy area, but…. How to cultivate it such that it can have some momentum? How do we encourage/automate adding to it? Would adding a posting reaction called ‘showcase this’ allow users to tag things that belong in the eye candy section? Ideally we would want someone posting a photo of their tank in their journal that they are really happy with to be able to easily have it showcased in the eye candy area without a bunch of extra steps.

Encouraging Journal longevity: I’ve been perusing old journals lately, and there are plenty of them that are started and then stop. It’s the nature of the beast, life interferes and the journal owner steps away for a long period. A lot of the ones that stop have as the final entry a question or complement from someone reading the journal. Maybe journal owners might answer that final question and even get back to posting in their journal if the default view in scapecrunch would place their unanswered journal question at the top of the list. So the default view for user Fred would be : unread items from journal threads started by Fred, then all the rest of the unread threads. Astute readers will note how rude this suggestion is because…. I don’t even have my own journal thread started!

Facebook : @Yugang , I’m curious what you mean by partnering with an existing Facebook group. What would you hope we would get from that? Are you thinking we scapecrunch needs more users, or more video capabilities or…. I guess I think the Facebook space is already evolved into existing groups that work there, so help me understand what your thought is

I love the idea of an “Eye Candy” section, especially if it was automated in some way so as to guarantee regular new entries. I also enjoy things like contests, tank of the month, photo of the month/week, question of the day and that Ai podcast that Art put together. I think these sort of things can charm new users to the forum who might otherwise be intimidated by the high level, in depth content by expert and long time members.
Of course, that type of conversation is and should be the backbone of Scapecrunch, but growing the forum and keeping it alive and vibrant I believe is key to survival.

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

If I may ask a favor, please create a new thread for each suggestion that you have. The idea is for others to be able to vote on it so we can identify the most requested suggestions.

Thanks!
