Do Malaysian trumpet snails keep sand clean?

Wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble of adding them.

Got some minor algae on the top layer of my sand.

Do these snails actually eat the algae particles on the sand or do they just mix up the layers and stop algae from growing visibly that way?

Bumping as I'm also curious if anyone has experience with this.

One of the mostly unspoken truths is that white sand looks amazing for about 2 weeks before algae will turn is ... less white.

Before introduction, I had cyano between aquasoil and the glass, like it commonly happens. After, no cyano at all 1-1.5 centimeters deep, beyond this there still is. Not sure if they 'eat' it or just move the soil around.
