One of the reasons that I like ScapeCrunch is that it is focussed on our hobby, aquatic plants, and does not divert too much into unrelated subjects. We do have chit chat, and I like most of it, but even these are generally adjacent to our hobby - so far at least. We're just a happy bunch of hobbyists here, no political activists.
Many of us support freedom of expression, but for everything there is a place and time. I am not interested to have climate change conspiracies on this forum. For those who think that that may belong here for the sake of freedom of expression, why not discuss the legal age of consent and similar ? I was banned from UKAPS when I opposed a staff member posting a thread with a climate change conspiracy, so I do have some passion and skin in the game for saving ScapeCrunch (and me) from the same or similar.
Currently UKAPS goes through its next crisis, go there to look for yourself, with the first member already resigning from the forum. The same staff member (now ex staff) is again deeply involved in a climate change debate with predictable divisive results.
My concrete suggestion is to agree that ScapeCrunch supports freedom of expression, but clarifies that ScapeCrunch is a place for aquascaping and aquatic plants, and no place for political or contentious topics that are not closely related to our hobby.
