Chihiros auto doser tubing

I had leaking issues on one line with the original base tubing as well, so on my last order from Chihiros, I purchased their colored silicone tubing. You can probably find something else cheaper but I was already buying an expensive light, so figured might as well. It slides on to the barbs much better, and so far, no leaks. Knock on wood.

The silicone tubing is SO much better than the original vinyl tubing.

You can also use any 2mmx4mm silicone tubing. I use this one, a bit cheaper than the chihiros stuff:

Finally, if you install new silicone tubing and it's still leaking, you need replacement barbs:

Thanks Rocco. Do you also have any suggestions for replacing the dosing head that sits on the aquarium. 25$ for it seems a lot on Amazon. The one that came with the doser seems to sit too close to the water level.

I see that this keeps leaking but can only push the tube in so far. Any thoughts or recs ?
The reason it is leaking is because the factory doser head is plugging up and there's back pressure on the pump. There is nothing wrong with the tubing per say. The factory head is poorly designed IMHO. Cheers

Rocco sent me some haven’t hooked them up yet but they look sleek . Thanks Rocco.image.webp

I’ve just installed one of these:

Early days, but it is so nice not having the tubing holders and tubing up the side of the tank.
If you run an external filter then it certainly tidies up the setup.

Yup looks great, thanks for sharing. Didn’t know that this existed. More things to spend on!

Just an FYI, mine clogged so badly, repeatedly, that I stopped using it permanently. Hopefully yours won't, but just a heads up. The only way you'll know is when you get algae and notice the solution levels haven't dropped!

Curious. Ive been running mine for over a year and no issues. Ive fairly dilute mixes. Maybe that is key?

@Naturescapes_Rocco and someone else mentioned having clogging issues with the Chihiros tube holders/outputs as well and I've yet to have clogging on mine after a year. I was wondering if it was maybe due to the fert used. Are the dry dose mixes more likely to clog lines than off-the-shelf mixes like APT? Regardless, I've also decided to 3D print some holders because, while they haven't clogged, the Chihiros holders do build up a lot of residue around where they're mounted. Hoping the 3D printed ones are better in that regard.

Thanks for that, I will keep my eye on it to make sure the levels on the dosing containers are dropping appropriately.
The tiny sized tube Chihiros use has such a small internal diameter would be extra prone to blockages.
