I haven’t used Micro Lift before. I took a look at their website and they make a lot of claims that, to me, seem to be quite a stretch given they say this is all done by bacteria. Having said that, their list of experts seem to include people that should be knowledgeable in the area. I wish they published some scientific backing of their claims.
I have used other products that have been shown to include the proper nitrifying bacteria that may shorten a tank’s cycling such as Dr Tim’s. It has shortened the cycling time if I only consider the nitrogen cycle.
As I’ve said elsewhere here, I also dosed vodka to increase the heterotrophic bacterial population in the hopes of seeing some of the claims made by Micro Lift. I didn’t see anything that I could say was material benefit. Then again, maybe I grew the wrong bacteria??
Focusing on planted aquariums, it is absolutely true that a tank needs to mature. This is more than just cycling. It has to do with the micro biome reaching a point of balance.
Whether Micro Lift will shorten this period, I don’t know. I would guess, probably not.
