I'm in a new location so trying to set up my water change routine. This time, I will not be using RODI. Going good ole' tap.

I want to come up with a "safe" or "idiot-proof" way to do it so I don't spill water everywhere. Ideally, I set it to remove water and it removes what to the same level every time and then stops. On the other side, it will fill the tank to the exact level and then stop.

Any of you come up with a smart mod out there that gets close to the above?

Thanks!

Thanks! I think the U tube is the easiest way to go for the draining. Like you said, the return is the more difficult part. I was also thinking about using a float switch to stop the water. Something like this: Malida Auto Water Filler

That would work but be an eyesore inside the tank. Somewhere, maybe on ReefBuilders, I saw a digital sensor type float sensor. I cant find it for the life of me 🤣 It looked like the old school pH strips you attatch to your glass. Guess this is where the correct terminology comes into play trying to search for it....

Yes! At that point it becomes almost like an ATO. This solenoid coupled with a water sensor in the aquarium would be the solution, albeit pricey.
