About a year ago I traded some plants for 6 juvie angelfish for my 135. They were about the size of a quarter when I got them. As they grew, they just started nibbling on some of my plants. Nothing major. Figured I would just add some veggies to thier meals. Still nibbled on the plants but I just let it go till a couple of weeks ago. They became so aggressive and went from nibbling to just plain destroying some plants. Guyana is gone. Decimated. Syng belem is so torn up as well as my stargrass and limno aromatica. Worked hard on my plants for them to do this. I had to net them all out and surrendered them to my local LFS. We loved those angels but me and the wife agreed they had to go.

Hey, sorry you went through that. I’ve been in your shoes and it has been painful choosing plants over fish sometimes. However, sometimes fish outgrow the setup or risk tearing it all up as was your case.

Back in the day, I had some gourami doing the same thing. I tried increasing the feedings and that seemed to keep them from doing too much damage. Other times, the increased food did nothing.

I feel for you. I think a “potential plant eater” should be a label added to fish by LFSs.
