Amazing progression and part of why we are here

So much has changed from my start in the mid 60'a with a fish bowl, a couple of Comets and clump of Elodea. At that point I never imagined such things as our tanks of today. Back in those days, your source of knowledge was hanging out at the local shop on Saturday's listening in on any conversations you could. Nowadays it is so easy to find and share things on forums such as this. That's the amazing progress that I really enjoy. Thanks to you all for contributing..

Boy this sounds familiar.

I got my first tank when I was around 10 years old. It came with a 20 page Tetra brochure that I re-read so many times it was tearing apart. The only plants in most LFSs were water sprite, swords and elodea. Terrible!

Sadly, I still visit some LFSs that have the same set up...

I'll play, here's my introduction to co2, this is probably back in 2005/2006. Check out my bubble ladder diffuser powered by a hagen diy co2 maker (looked nicer than a bottle, you know the wife) in a 46 Gallon tank. Look at this poor Angelfish, it looks huge even in the 46. Gotta love my java moss carpet and wisteria street.

So jumping forward, my progression was getting rid of most stems and aquascaping with mostly epiphytes. Those stemmie guys are nuts!!! But things have changed recently for me, so more on that later.

I love seeing these progression shots!!

Your Java moss looks better than mine ever did! And you even created a Dutch-inspired street as a budding aquascaper!

LOL, could be a sign that my aquascaping journey won't be complete until I go full Dutch.

This was my start, I still have this 'No Fishing' sign, actually I'll be using in a nano shrimp tank for my son 😊

I know that unnatural items like "no fishing signs" "Sponge Bob" etc are sorta taboo with planted tank hobbyists, but the very well known and accomplished German Aquascaper Oliver Knott has incorporated all sorts of objects in some of this setups.

Love it!

I really wish I had a picture of some of my early aquariums. It was so long ago, before digital cameras so I don't have any. Reliving my past through your pictures though! Keep them coming!

I love seeing these transitions.

I just found this picture of the first time I tried a planted tank. I took this some time in 2012..I think the tank is 3 gallon all in one. DIY CO2, potting soil under some sort of cap...had no idea what I was doing but to be fair I still don't now.
