Thinking about trying NH4NO3 or Urea instead of or in addition to KNO3. Does anyone use either? Care to share your experience?

There's also NH4SO4 which I think is easier to source than NH4NO3

I've been dosing a small amount of urea daily for years...real small....1/8th tsp for a 200 gallon tank and the results have been positive

I wouldn't use any of these salts if your tank is new or you're battling algae

I’ve been using a PPS-Pro Urea solution for a while with a lot of success.

I would definitely experiment with different N sources if I didn't plan to have a full stocking. Fish are a great source of NH4, so my plants have a steady drop of that anyway. I dose pretty lean and have a low energy tank, so my total N needs are relatively meager. YMMV
