Wanted to share my automatic Moina culture. It's been really thriving.

I have some questions for you Ricky.

What are you feeding the culture? What temperature is the culture is kept at? How often are you harvesting and do are you rotating between another culture? What does the maintenance look like? Any issues with crashes?

I ask because I am going to be starting a some cultures of moina up for breeding and fry rearing along with daphnia and freshwater rotifers. The information for moina is slim in terms of methods of culture.

I'm feeding yeast in a rotating auto feeder twice a day. Temperature has been room temperature which has lately been between 65f - 79 f... No maintaince other than topping off but I plan on adding an auto top off. I had a few small crashes while I was dialing in the amount of food, and I fed too much. However I've never had a complete loss of the culture. I'm not rotating between cultures. I actually just started harvesting a week ago, just about a turkey baster full collected from the densest part. So far the culture has been stable and very dense. But I don't know if that will last indefinitely. But fingers crossed it does.

I've kept them in jars with snails by the windows where I would occasionally feed flakes and they did well. However the filter and automatic feeding in this culture has allowed me to culture them extremely densely in a small water volume.

Hey Ricky can you write up a quick journal on how you did this, and pics of what all the pieces are? What's the filter, how big is the tank, how much in the auto feeder, how often do you change the water? Any other beasties in there besides ramshorns?

Cracking the code on keeping Moina alive is a big deal!

Ugh... I'm getting old. I kept trying to figure out what 5G had to do with an aquarium. Then I realized it was 5 Gallons and not 5 Gigahertz.
