Have her planted; which was done quickly so nothing is set in stone. If the 3 week deadline is true, I doubt I’ll be able to trim for lines and shapes. Tessie and I are operating like we can make it, but we are fine if we don’t. Limno/Difformis area is a no go and need to fix group sizes. Need to get the soil even and have RO on standby for the ammonia spike soon. Nothing showing yet. We have a red plant dilemma as well. Simply, we don’t have a large amount in standby.image000001.jpeg

Old was BDBS. New is Netlea soil. Cost a fortune but so be it. Something was seriously off and as a beginner, I’m clueless to what. Nothing I was doing was improving the situation. So lights off while the ammonia spike happens. All fish and plant’s relocated. Trimmed all algae sections off and floating the decent portions throughout my 4 tanks. Hopefully the spike passes quickly with the already cycled media.
"As a beginner" I think you've earned the right to call yourself a bit more than a beginner

I appreciate it, but man did I screw it up. @Burr740 has been holding my hand trying to get me right but something was seriously wrong. So I said F it, let’s redo it.

That said, pulling the substrate out said a lot, man was there tons of junk in there. Might need to get better at vacuuming.

Interesting times, interesting times. Still having issues in the 120 with this short fuzz or hair algae. The 100 is about the same with increasing GDA. I'm assuming this is a new substrate issue, but at a complete loss with the 120. Also getting Cyano in the 120. I'm dumbfounded there. No clue what's going on. I took a rod and moved the sand around throughout the tank and did another light vacuum. The other 2 tanks are doing well; which is weird because all 4 tanks are getting the same nutrient solution and totals. Weird stuff for sure. I can move a plant, loaded with this algae, into the tanks doing well and the algae goes away and the plant starts growing just fine. The only thing different is the aqua soil. As a last straw, I'm trying API Algaefix in the 120. If this doesn't work, I'm tearing it down and starting over. I re-homed my large rainbows and moved a few into my 75 farm tank. The bio load in the 120 should be much lower now. Hopefully this helps the situation.

I ordered a new RO unit capable of 600 gallons per day. The unit I have now only does 150 gallons a day which was just too slow for 4 tanks. I'm looking forward to being able to increasing water change frequency. When I only had the 120, I would do multiple changes per week and everything was easy mode. My thinking is I better get back to it. I enjoy them and so do the fish.

Added proper top dwelling fish in the 100 and stocking is complete. 17 Hatchets, 29 Red Fin tetra and 12 albino Sterbai Corydora.

Dosing Mix KNO3, KH2PO4 and KCL
Per dose
4.5
1.2
6
Fe .45 as proxy

3 doses in the 100
3 to 4 in the 120
4 to 5 in the 40
3 to 4 in the 75

Not much plant mass in the 100 and just trying to up the mass while propagating Myrio golden. The Balsamica will take the place of the difformis eventually, I just don't want to remove mass right now. I don't have enough healthy plants atm to fill the tank up.1000000442.jpg

Lastly, my wife is pushing me to start a YouTube channel. We both agree there's very little in the way of Dutch aqua scaping. Youtube is inundated with garden style which is being miss labeled as Dutch. And honestly, it makes me crazy. I love George Farmer, but damnit, don't start a Dutch series and it not be actual Dutch. Insanity.

My only issue with going on YouTube is, should I be the one to do it? I'd much rather watch @Burr740 videos 😆. Anyways, if I do it, it's going to be the bad and the good. Everyone one shows those perfect tanks, and I'm not shy to show the dumpster fire I've somehow started. What are everyone's thoughts for a novice American trying to Dutch YouTube videos? Personally, I'm a bit lol at myself for even thinking about it. Anyways, maybe?

Do it man! I'll watch and follow your channel. I'm sure many, many others would also.

I've been having this same issue in the farm tanks. I am thinking it's due to my maintenance not being on par with my main tank. Hopefully one of us figures something out to correct it.

It's a thought I would watch. And I think posting the bad and the good would be great so people see it's not all rainbows and sunshine all the time. The thought has crossed my mind but I am not of fan of putting myself out there like that on social media. I don't even post or respond to things in groups I see you in.

Yeah, a bit worried about being out there. Would much rather watch Joe Harvey or someone else from ScapeCrunch.
